Albion Cattle Society Facebook Centenary Auction:

We had 35 varied lots  generously donated by people who want to help ACS have funding for more semen & embryo work with the priority breed, Albion cattle.

We have now sold all 35 lots on Facebook. It has been a great success & £2500.16 has been raised! This is a fantastic sum and we hope people had fun bidding and that the winning bidders enjoy their lots. Thank you to all who took part. The auction closed on 25th September at noon. The Blue Albion Cattle Herd Book: Volume IV .

The original Blue Albion Cattle Society listing animals in 1923, printed in 1924.

These books are now extremely rare like the Albion cattle. This is the fourth volume of 11 printed.

It is interesting to see how widely spread Albions were and to find farms / farmers you might know which / who used to keep Albions.

A truly dual purpose bull, with well marked, easy calving, lively calves who quickly grow on.

The firm where it is stored make a standard charge of £45 to deliver semen to a flask, no matter how many straws are ordered. This delivery cost is included in this lot so please bear this in mind when bidding. Bidders are welcome to order more semen to go along with this lot of 5 straws with the delivery charge staying the same.

5 Reprinted black and white vintage photographs of Albions.

It is rare to find a photograph from the past of (Blue) Albion cattle and here are 5 of the best that the Albion Cattle Society has found.

 

Lot 21    £450

A really special quilt; often sold at Libertys for over £1000; kindly made up and donated for the Albion cause ( chosen because of the blue colours for blue cows) by Zelda Lawrence- Curran, Modern Welsh Quilts.

The quilt measures approx 88" x 104" when finished so would fit a kingsize bed or a large sofa if used as a throw. If the winner would like to use it as wall art I'm happy to add a hanging sleeve on one side to enable a pole to be slid through to display it that way.

It's called Darkness Before Dawn because it's the second design in my 'lockdown' series - and represents the hope still shining through in the darkest times of the pandemic. The top and back are 100% cotton, the wadding is wool. It is fully washable and can be put in a tumble dryer, but I'll supply full washing instructions to the winner.

The original Blue Albion Cattle Society listing animals in 1921, printed in 1922.

Therefore it is listing Albions from 100 years ago which is now available to be bid for 100 years later!

Your chance to be in Amanda Lockhart’s forthcoming book on Rare and Heritage Breeds!

Photographer Amanda Lockhart (#amanda_lockhart_photography) will photograph you, your family and your livestock.

You will get all the edited high res digital files of the shoot plus two A4 prints of your choice.

This fantastic lot includes travel costs to your farm but Amanda would try and tie it in with other shoots (and there is nowhere in the UK she won’t be going to at some point!!)

Amanda has already produced two wonderful books: The Art of The Chase, a collection of hunting photographs and The Art of the Race, a collection of behind-the-scenes photographs of horse racing. And now her latest project is documenting farmers of rare and heritage breeds with related trades- people.
