Semen Straws Successfully Stored!

At last we have some semen from a new Albion bull; Speckles Ferdinand. It was an on-farm collection, following TB testing and various blood tests and then being kept in isolation until the results came through and the vets were able to come out. The house, being handily close, was used as a laboratory as the vets only send the semen off to the freezing lab if the sperm is suitably active and in good amounts. Ferdinand produced some excellent results; there then followed a period of worry, wondering if the straws would freeze and thaw successfully, (this is to do with the strength of the cell walls and you can't predict what will happen,) and happily they do! Over 500 straws are now in a compulsory 28 day isolation and should be available for use later on this month.
