Albion Cattle Society Open Day : held on Friday 10th August.

The Albion Cattle Society held an important meeting to prepare for application for proper rare breed recognition by FAnGR (Farm Animal Genetic Resources Committee) and RBST (Rare Breed Survival Trust.) This is a very important objective because, not only could the breed gain official recognition and publicity, but the government would help protect the breed in the event of a disaster like a foot and mouth outbreak.

Visitors could also walk round the Betchton herd of Albion cattle who are milked commercially alongside Brown Swiss and Holstein Friesians. They were a pleasure to see and were in superb condition. As we walked into the fields, it began to rain! This only brought smiles to people's faces, who have not seen rain for so long! Some musty coats were put on and we carried on. Then it was into the farm buildings to see the Albion bulls and youngstock, followed by going back indoors for a delicious lunch.

Thank you John and Lynn for your generous hospitality and hard work.
